Craigslist scam?

I got my xbox on craigslist and I offered a guy who's got 2 12 w6s a trade he's agreeing to meet Friday in my town which is pretty open so I won't be shot but I asked if they are still hooked up he said no and I don't have anything hooked up is there a way to check before hand if they're blown? Like the ohm readings what will the meter read and will it have any tolerance?

if they are dual 4 then meter should read around 4 if there duAL 2 then around 2 ohm. U got amp?? If so free air each one.

Not sure how this would constitute a craigslist scam. And W6 are dvc 6 ohm drivers if they are the old school versions.

yep. use DMM to test the coils. i did that when i bought some subs and dude was like 'WTF is that?". lulz

Yeah I get that alot too, Someone acctually thought I was trying to blow the speaker with a DMM, I just laughed and explained why... They still did'nt get it.

i was like 'you see that little crazy symbol and the 4 beside it?' then pointed to DMM and said 'see that same symbol? if the meter says 4 or close its not blown'

Push down lightly on the cone as well to make sure there is no coil rub.

Not really..if the sub's blown then it won't move when you hook it up to the battery lol. Easiest way to see if it's blown

ya definitely check them out. i met up with a guy on craigslist once who had two JL 12w3v3's he was trying to sell for a pretty good price (much lower than most other people). I looked at them in the back of his trunk, and he also had a 12'' kicker subwoofer in a box behind the JL's. He told me he was trying to get rid of the JL subs cuz the 12'' kicker in the box hit harder than JL so he liked it better (it was in a huge box that was at least 2x as big as the JL's). I asked him if i could hear them so we sat in the front seat and he turned up the volume. Since i own two 12's myself, i knew that the JL subs were definitely not hooked up, and instead it was that one 12'' kicker he had. They also didn't hit low at all like they were supposed to. I just pretended to act impressed and told him i'd hit him up tomorrow after i thought about the decision. He tried to get me to make an impulsive decision and say that he was running over to another city to show some other guy them later that night and they were probably gonna be sold. I just told him I wasn't interested and got the **** out of there. People will do anything for a quick buck.

Funny you said 2 12w6s, I just checked out 2 12w6v2s. Same situation, they weren't hooked up. If they're in a box and wired together push them in and out a little and then test the coils. They should read 1 ohm or 4 ohms if they are wired together.
