Cracked Cone...Fixable?

Yeah I am only planning on using 1 of the pair anyways. So the busted one was kind of a bonus. Thankfully the other one is in pretty decent shape. I will build a box for it tomorrow, hopefully it will sound great.
Ill mess around with the cracked one, and if all else fails I may just recone it. I wonder if this could be turned into a beefy 8?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif I might run into some spider issues though.
Yeah, an 8" with a 3" coil won't have much of a useful spider within the limits of the usable space of the basket. Then again, you could try to find a spider like the Dyn's have with deep folds, who knows.

Haha, we laugh at that but there's guy on YouTube that did it for his homemade subwoofer. Made entirely from foam-like plastic and tape. Sounded quite good for what it was. Seen it?

haha ive seen some made out of paper plates, pennys, aluminum foil and the like but no rubber bands yet.

Since your an excursion nut I'm sure you have checked out those super excursion subs on youtube. Made from like Boston Acoustic parts or similar...They get those things moving like 5 inches each way, im sure it doesnt sound too beautiful however.

I work with some pretty interesting polymeric materials and I'm sure some would be suitable for use in speaker suspensions. Might have to experiment sometime ha

Yeah those FS3 drivers. Too bad they didn't take off and do something effective with those. Good fun though.

Check this guy out. Going for what he knows and learning a thing or two on the way.

Im going to say tc7.
I'd considered that but it measures and weighs the same as a TC-9 with two .75" slugs.

As far as I know the TC-7 has less mass to achieve a higher Qts value since it was intended for sealed enclosures.

I was never sure what the 7 or 9 signified though so I'm unsure.

yeah idk some say TC-7, and some say TC-9. From what I can remeber the slugs on most TC-9's were about 7.5" in diameter, same as this sub.

And the slugs on TC-7's were closer to 6.5". But I'm no expert.

Can anyone clarify?
