Apparently according to onlinecarstereo's specs for this it has Darlington internals. The only other amp I know of that has Darlington internals are the old school Phoenix Gold MS triple darlington amps.

Those coustic amps were nice IMO. I had a 321qe as my first 4 channel, and my dad is still rocking his along with a 401db for 5+ years...solid amps. Exactly what kind of info are you looking for?

Do they do rated power? Do they do clean power?

This particular amp apparently has darlington internals. I figured it would have more info with all the buzz around the PG MS triple darlington amps.

I just checked out the manual for the 161se and it makes no mention of darlington internals. Not a big deal really. I've never heard anybody ever state a reason why darlington outputs were supposed to be better than anything else. I think people just get excited over the name. Coustic has made good products for a long time. This particular model was produced after mtx took ownership of coustic so I am guessing there is a good shot that this amp could be a rebadged mtx product of some sort. Not a bad amp by any means but nothing too special in my opinion.

Well looking deeper I see that it is listed as having darlington driver circuitry which I am guessing means it has darlington transistors in the preamp section of the amp. Again not sure of what this might gain you. Maybe a sq gain but I doubt something you'd truly be able to hear over another quality built amplifier.

True, but with all the backing the MS amps have I doubt its snake oil.
