alright, ive got the SXs installed and they are wonderful. just a few things need to be tweaked before it is done. if anyone read my last thread i had a problem with my amps, two nine.1s and an mtx 4 chan. the power lights were blinking. turned out that the circuit breaker between the batteries was tripped and the blinking was caused by the low voltage (5 volts) the amps were seeing. the problem now is figuring out what length my port needs to be. i have searched high and low on the internet and get different numbers on every site. i refuse to learn how to use winisd and cant download it on this computer anyway (government comp). during the install the port that i wanted was not easy to find so a 4 inch was used as a temporary. problem is it is tuned way too low. nobody laugh but its like 22 hz or something. sounds great and really hits the lows but not as loud as it can be by far. i would love if someone could tell me how long the port needs to be. im kinda hurting when it comes to the depth of the box so ill have to work with it. im thinking of bending the port if i have to but dont thing ive ever seen a round port with bends in it. the box is 7.5 cubes with two RE SX 15s. subs are fired to the rear and port is forward between the rear seats where the arm rest folds down. i have about 10 inches to work with before bending the port and im still not sure it will not hit the motors of the subs. box is about 17 inches deep from baffle to back. i could make it stick out of the box about 3 or 4 inches too so that can be figure in. i want to tune to 35 hz using anywhere from a 6 inch to 8 inch port. i used the port calculator on carstereo.com and it says an 8 inch port should be 8.89 inches long, which would be nice but i dont believe it can be that short. i used a formula i found and it came to 47.27 inches long which is impossible in my box so something is f**ked up. i guess a 6 inch is all ill be able to do. can anyone give me the length measurements? id really appreciate it. and what kind of spl diff will i notice by going from low 20s to 35 hz?

You can bend ports inward to pretty much what you want, but this does add turbulan ce and could create port noise, or at least increase it. It may not even be noticeable when its all said and done and the whole port noise issue could be a moot point. You also might not want to tune is so low, what you gain in output at low fequency levels you loose in overal SPL output. Thats just the trade offs we face unless you just get a whole load of low tuned drivers, then you have mad physics on your side of large amounts of cone and voice coil area. Good luck though
