The KDC-MPV619 asking for a code likely means that the original owner enabled the code protection (once enabled it isn't user-resettable) and it is wanting whatever 4-digit code that was programmed into it when that feature was activated.

I enabled that on my KRC-608 cassette receiver when it was new. As it is now my bench-testing deck and isn't constantly powered it's a bit maddening now to have to enter the code everytime I want to use it.

Thanks for the great info. I havent really tested it out myself, so ill do it asap tomorrow and update it for you guys. I'll even guess out the code, who knows, maybe it's the default key.
