Your laptop must be ancient ... I used to play CS on a 266 MHz P2 with a Nvidia Vanta and 128 MB of PC100 ...

that must've been on the x386 platform with windows 3.1 when 16MB of ram was a gazillion dollars.

I think is cause its an old shitty savage video card. I can log into steam I just cant get the game to boot up.

what are the specs on the laptop? i use to play on a 1ghz desktop that had 512 MB of RAM with a geforce MX400 64 bit video card.. or i think it was a 32 bit version... it got 40 frams constant on average at best.. i would guess you need more RAM in that laptop.. does it only have 256?

i played on a 700 MHz pentium with 256 MB of Ram and the shittest video card out there, and it worked well for the most part. Try re-installing steam.
