correct powering how to tell? subs to amp?

I was reading on some sites, about how to power subs. They say actually underpowering a little can be safer. Im sticking with the 500 watt jl audio amp, so what kind of power should i be looking at with getting 2 10" subs that are going to be in a tight .43 box? i heard someone says that amp actually puts out 600 watts? it says 500, but as u can see im not the most experienced person in car audio.

I saved up and bought some really good equipement. apline 7878 hu, mb quart q series components, jl audio 300 watt amp, jl 500 watt amp, 2 jlw6 subs one blown~~

just about all of the high quailty amps put out more than what they say called benching w/e so thats why you are confused on that for the subs you just want to give them the power in the rms range depending on what kind of sub you want to get some subs are underated too. What are you looking for too in the subs too

im looking for more sound quality but a sub that will hit hard for techno type music and rap that i listen alot to. the idq were great sq, but i needed a little more bump. the jls w6 seemed to be great for hitting, but the sq to me wasnt there. im looking for somethign in between that can be ran off that jl 500 watt amp the new ones. it is a very nice setup and i dont want to change the amps or anything cause it is brand new. check the gallary pic out.thanks for the help

maybe a type r 15? i heard that they can take more than what they are rated...and i think they are rated for 500 rms

i was putting 1060 rms to my type r 15, it's not even in the install anymore, and i can't get rid of the **** thing.....I'd feel less guilty if i blew it...

if someone wants it they can have it, make offers, i hade that much running to it for sq, i am an sq nut, it was in a 1.5 cubic foot sealed box, i managed 139.8 with it....it cant take that much, It's still alive aint it? no i don't like spl though all sq baby....oh and the front of it isn't pretty, that stupid foam gasket that runs around the outside, half of it is missing...
