Copper VC's

So, as we know, there are some "options" to select when ordering a subwoofer from Fi. I plan on getting a pair on SSd's (12 inch) which will be sealed in 1cf of space. What are the pros and cons of adding the copper VC? I listen to mostly Rock/Metal and 20 percent Rap (or anything bass heavy).

What are also the pros and cons of adding the flatwind coil?

Thanks for clearing this up.

its not that its bad for spl, but for spl setups you tend to want a driver to peak a bit more. You should be fine with the copper option
Got it,

So will adding the copper coils allow you to peak the subs LESS than with no copper coil (aka "stock" sub)? Or is it the same?

If it's the same, cool. If it is less, I might just leave that option out.

Unfortunately I only got 1.1cf per sub (I have the power to move them) and I heard via some reviews that 1.1 sounds fine for that woofer as well.

I am not sure if that changes the copper vc option for my scenario. I'm sure it won't, so I'm probably gonna get that option. It is just that I might want to "peak" the sub once and a while, we most of us do now and then. I just don't want to get the copper coil and have it perform poorly when doing so.

i think what was meant by "peak" was the sound of the sub having a peak to it and not sounding as flat.

No, that's not what he meant. He meant that the frequency response will not be as flat as it would be with the copper coils. This means that the sound will be smoother but it doesn't mean it won't be as loud. I highly doubt you would notice a difference a difference in SPL to the ear. That means that I really doubt that you would be able to hear the difference in loudness but a meter might show a difference.

You are misunderstanding the word.

The subwoofer with the copper coil option with have a less peaky FREQUENCY RESPONSE. This is NOT saying it will be less loud, or OVERALL have a lower peak loudness.
