Controling ipod through 9835 hu

Can you control an ipod using the 9835 hu, will it be slow? Or is it better to the get the cable for it instead and just use the ipod?

You need this it will be a little slower than the newer models beause you have to ccontrol the ipod from the ipod and not the head unit. but you will be just fine using it.
