construction workers?

Did construction for a better part of a couple years here in Ohio as a laborer and I made 9.50 starting out and finished at 11.25. I kinda wish my back was in better working order and I might get back into it.

When I was in Florida when I was 19 as a laberor, I was making 11.50 and finished at 12.50, but only was there for 6 months. I just couldnt take the heat down there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if your the boss= $400,000 a year +

if you work for someone else = $45 + an hour if your good.

im in mississippi and most of construction i see is the state building new roads and stuff. and i really dont care about the being outside all day its alot better than sitting in a cubical all day looking at a computer screen.

back in minnesota I started as a laborer at 8/ hr and about 9 yrs later before i moved to tx I was making $31.59/ hr full benefits.... But the nice thing about texas is its so cheap to live here. ( at least in san antonio ) and im making avg of about $1000/ week ( were on piece rate ) and the guy who was training me in pulled in 1800 last week with 2 extra hangs on saturday where he prolly made 3-400 ..

I worked construction for about a year and a half. I started at 8/hr and when my boss retired I was making 11/hr. Its decenet pay, once you get about 5+ years you can really make some decent money. 20+ an hour is common for a fully experienced caprenter in this area..

One thing I would suggest is if you are smart enough to do something else besides labor then try to do that, being a laborer should be a back up plan because you can almost always do it. Use your head try to go to college, and if its really not for you then get into a trade like electrician or plumber. Electrical work is easy and pays well.

I am saying these things but I live in california, which is an entirely different world than Mississippi, but hopefully the same basic principal applies.

ive already decided im not going to college and even if i do furthur my education in some way its at a trade school. other than that im either doing the construction thing or get a job as a machinist or welder easily with a reference from my votech instructor.
