constant whine from my tweeters

i have spent the last several hours re-doing the power and ground wires for my stereo.

along with switching my frontstage to run active from my headunit.

when everything was done i had a bit of alt whine so i checked everything and found out it was coming from the new rca cable i just ran.

i switched that rca around with the others on my amp to see if it might have beem a problem with my H.U. or my amp. but it is just coming from that single rca.

so i unplug it and go back up front and now there is a constant whining coming out of my tweeters.

i unplugged all the rca's from the amp and it is still there this makes me think that something happened to my amp.

all my connections are good.

i just have no clue what could be causing this.

it even does it with the gain all the way down on the amp.

does anybody have a clue what could be causing this?

and ofcourse this had to start today since i am going to enter a sq comp at a local meet tomorrow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

so if anybody has any clue why this might be happening or possibly something that could fix it. i would appreciate it very much.

well shit, i think my amp is shot.

channels 1-4 are making the same high pitch noise.

and 5-6 are making a much louder lower pitched noise.

this is all with no input from the head unit. which makes me think that the amp is about to die. or with my luck it will never die it will just make this **** noise for ever.

i guess this is a reason to order that 1200/5 that i have been wanting

i just checked the channels with a dmm and got .013-.006 dc from 1-4 .020/.008 from 5/6

and i am getting 15.6 DC from channel 5.

so i believe that means it fucked up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blow_up.gif.f2a780e8b12ae09e264cb01720b8dca2.gif

i wonder if it would be worth having K&B or some other repair shop look at it.

i wouldnt really want to spend more than 75 total to fix it since i can get a different more powerful one for 150.

I dunno if your amp is bad, but FWIW my old Kenwood amp was bad and did exactly that (noise from the tweets etc.). I pulled my hair out before replacing the amp, after re-doing tons of wiring, but the amp ended up being the problem. I'm no great troubleshooter, and I dunno if that's your problem, but it soulds like what happened to me.
