connected a DJ amp to 2 12''s , not as loud as I thought...

So I got a hold of a peavy cs 800x

and connected 2 x 12'' Rockford punches , 1 to each channel. I can max out volume and the woofer sounds good but does not move like it could. They are both 4 ohms and the woofers are 400 rms.

If the subs are dvc wire each one to 2 ohms and run it that way per channel.

the amp has bridging capabilities but I dont know if I wanna mess with that.

Read the first page of the manual you linked. Says two ohm. Second, what is your subs wired to? 8 ohms or 2 ohms?

From what you posted, your subwoofers are dual 4 ohm, therefore you have each sub wired at 8 ohms to the amp, so they're not getting 400 watts each

Parallel so that it's 2 ohms a speaker

Its possible your source signal isn't strong enough. I use a 1.5KW amp here bridged to 4 ohms in my home theater. The surround receiver its connected to has to have the Sub out maxed out and the amp cranked pretty high to get proper power.

Box plays a big part too. If you have them in a premade box, then you wont get anywhere near the optimal performance even if fully powered.

Read the link you posted man. It says so clearly. 420 rms at 4ohms and 600 rms at 2 ohms.

So I wired this way and the old boxes could not handle and are seperating. I basically replaced my old cerwin begas with the RFP4212 Rockford punches.

The speakers are from 1989 and the foam fell apart. Many will say refoam but to be honest they were not as good as todays speakers. Anyhow, rewiring made a huge difference but what it is really boiling down to is I need better boxes.

Had a box like this once and it put out some nice bass. I feel liek getting two of these , one for each woofer. Then I can build a small box for the mids and high's that will sit on this box.
