Congress To Consider Legislation To End Minor Pot Arrests

well this is your chance hippies, start emailing, calling, faxing, and visiting your congressmen to voice your opinion on this legislation...just be sure to shower and shave before you go for your visit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i think this is a pretty reasonable law. i know enough people that "responsibly" smoke....just chill out and have fun, but as far as people i think no less of them. they still go to work, make money...do that stuff. and if you have more then 3.5 ounces on you....your not just a casual smoker, for sure.

You refer to people as hippies in every political thread I have seen.

I cant tell if this post above was sarcastic, but can you give a serious reply if that was not one?

Completely agree with that bill. I do not feel that pot is really that bad, I mean a drunk person is a much greater danger to society than someone who's stoned.

Also so many crimes occur to get pot, if it was legal think of all the crimes that wouldn't happen over illegally obtaining it.

Very true. However, I still think America is too ignorant to see this. I say Legalize and tax the snot out of it like cigarettes.
how's about we just legalize it and not tax the snot out of it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

We are 9+Trillion in debt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Cost of keeping marijuana illegal =
* cost of active law enforcement +

* cost of prosecution (and defense!) of accused offenders +

* cost of incarceration of convicted offenders +

* hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue that would be generated if drugs were legal and taxed +

Thats not even all of them.

don't worry...there is plenty of crime to go around! Maybe we could catch more rapists, murderers, and child molesters if we weren't worried about the person looking to catch a non-violent buzz!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif:rolleyes://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Democrats and potheads = hippies...just how it is

Post was serious though, if there ever was a time for people to rally it would be now, hopefully norml helps people unite. Start contacting your congressmen, get your friends/family onboard, etc.

Weeds not that big of a deal to me, but I think its a personal decision I should be able to make for myself without the government telling me whats right.

some very good points made. but i do think we are in need or a drastic change. it would save us so much ****ing money. i think its $30 billion annually for pot charges. not sure if thats only including possesion or sales as well. it would be hard to decide what they should do with it though. even if they were to TRY to tax it , its a friggen plant. anyone with common sense and a backyard would grow it and im sure they know that.

it isnt that big of a deal to anyone with a good head on thier sholders to see that its not what media makes it out to be. i know latly they have been putting out all these anti drug commercials aimed direcly at pot which is complete BS. i have yet to see one for coke , heroin , meth , crack etc...

What would you do, attempt to plant and hopefully grow good weed?Or go to the gas station down the street and buy some good weed for 50 an eighth?

Ill take the go to the gas station. Much quicker.

obviously. but for those three months you are going back and fourth to the gas station , you could be working on a crop that will keep you supplied for a good few months.

And if you are for legalization, that shows your opposition and their resources. They have more money to lobby congress than 10,000 stoners. Its going to take ALOT of voices to overcome that lobby money...or alot more money being donated to legalization lobbies like NORML.

i just dont know what to expect out of this. i know im not getting my hopes up as it will more than likly not pass , but it would be an excellent decision on the governments part , imo.

Indeed, if you have the room and commitment to it. In the end the government will still be making mad bank off it.

that is true. i mean i really wouldnt care if it did end up that way. because any way you look at it , you wont be getting arrested for smoking pot. even if it was from the gov. i just know id like to grow my own shit and not be ****ed with...unless the gov has that good of bud , lol.

Thats why I said big tobacco companies. They are multi billion dollar corporations and could easily fund the money to legalizing it.
I'm guessing its honestly not a smart business decision for them, if it was we'd already be kickin back to a pack of marlboro greens right now.

Either that or tobacco lobby on the hill isn't worth dick anymore after recent lawsuits and legislation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
