i have a question and this may sound stupid but hell better sounding stupid here then paying for it with cash..but lets say i buy a new tower/hard drive like this one

how do i get all the stuff i already have saved and stored into my old one onto the new one? do i just pull out the drives or what?

if i was u i would just start from scratch. then use ur old hard drives as slave drives.

You cant just swap hard drives, you either gotta burn stuff to a cd, or share the new computer on a network and drag and drop the files off your old one to your new one.

ya i know i will get much more for my money but hell i wouldnt know a $50 pieace from a $5000 pieace when it comes to pc's.

I was under the impression he was just going to use the old one in his new PC, not putting it as a slave. However it may work if he were to uninstall all the previous mobo drivers and other drivers but wasnt sure if he knew how to do that. Sry for the confusion, and yes i do know what im talking about, been building/repairing computers for 4 years now, taken cisco and all that as well.

If buying whole new tower then link them together with a USB crossover cable and use Windows built in migration tool to pull all documents and settings into the new one. It will be just like the old PC but with a fresh install and better hardware.

just take a really big magnet (a sub works great) and put it next to your computer. The magnetic waves will pull all your data from the old drive onto the magnet. Then get an extension cord and cut the end off of it, tape the bare wires from the cord to the magnet and plug it in next to the new computer. The electricity ions will bond with the data you pulled from your old computer and reverse the fields ionic dispersion direction and beam all your data onto the new computer.

to answer the question in the thread..... if ure new computer has plenty of space and what not for storage and u dont NEED those drives in ure comp as slave drives.... u could always temporarily network them and transfer files that way.... its much less of a headache than to pull out drives....

You can always buy an external hard drive. That would work great.

btw You can't put the old hard drive as slave and add it to the new tower. The new computer won't read it when it's booted to windows. Because it has the old windows files on it. So you won't see it.

Actually you cant just put some random *** drive from another computer as master on another computer and expect it to work great
