I am wondering if a gtx 285 video card will run well on my current sytem:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R

Intel Q6600

4gb RAM OCZ 2 x 2gb sticks DDR800

500w Antec Earthwatt PSU

WD 320gb Sata II HDD

Gigabyte iSOLO210 case

I don't know if my PSU is puttin out enough watts..What do you guys think?

and of course ill OC my Q6600 so it wont be bottlenecked.

do you REALLY have any clue what you are talking about??LOL..

what does overclocking your cpu have to do with your video card? The whole point of the video card is totally taking care of your graphics..thats why it has its own processor (gpu) built into it..so it doesnt rely on the CPU...and to answer your question, im assuiming the is a pci express card and as long as you have a pci express slot then yes it should be fine..

IF i was running a shitty cpu that would bottleneck it. However I am not but an OC'ed Q6600 will do wonders running at 3.1-3.3 ghz off air cooling. And yes i do have PCI-E. its just that i been gettin mixed feedback if my PSU would be sufficient.

It will run good I would go with a bigger card just because your system is going at a good speed a nice graphics card will help. That will help but not as much as a bigger one.
well I dont wanna SLI or Crossfire becuase it costs a lot more and the next gen is about to come out within the next year. I mean i could go with a 4850 x2. but i kno then my PSU cant take it. and i think the gtx 285 is the best single gpu out there right now. let me know if i am wrong though haha

500w PSU is pushing it. Do some research as I did and you will find out you are about maxed out on 500w. Keep in mind that your PSU has to power the GPU, MB, CPU, Memory, HD, optical drives and fans.

I purchased an extra PSU that goes in a bay slot. It powers my GTX280 only. Or just upgrade to a 700w PSU and you should be fine. your GTX285 should be more efficient then the GTX280 though.

The 500w u have now will work. But one day when you turn on your computer and it shuts off after 3 seconds or turns on but doesn't boot, don't say I didn't warn you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
