Computer Probs.....Guru's enter

agreed... the fact that everything worked fine at the start then started crapping out again leads me to think thermal issues as well.... where is the computer located.... is there and heat source near it (eg. heating duct blowing hot air from a furnace, fridge condenser nearby) download some monitoring software and let me know what your cpu temp is....

you guys are saying youve had the same problem and naming off symptoms.... there are like 100 things that could cause a computer to randomly shut down on its own...
the top 5 ive seen:

-bad component on the mobo

-bad psu (sometimes its just the PSU cable but not likely)

-overheating (90% of the cases caused by excessive dust)

-viruses/spyware

-and ram either not seated properly, not the RIGHT KIND, or just faulty

ive also seen a lot of video cards overheating because the fan wasnt plugged into the pins on the video card... so basically it was only being cooled by the heatsink
Yeah it's hard to diagnois over a thread. but really it's not that hard to figure out just a simple process of elimination.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If its a dust or heat sinc issue I can rip into it and make sure its clean

BUT I blew out all the crap and its pretty dam spotless in there........

If it could be a process of elimination , I would love to know the

actual process of what I need to do first, second etc etc

As for the heat......it sits under my desk, where every PC I have ever owned sits

I dont live in a jungle,its a normal climate home......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

can u link me to this software?

id say just start by reseating all components. if none of that helps try a format. try diferent ram sticks if you have extras, and so on just try each thing and one peice will prove to be the culprit.

speedfan, everest, coretemp, etc will all work to monitor the temps. I'd reseat the hsf with some good as5/asc and see how that works.

BTW: 50's is alright in temps (*C btw), but anything in 60+ is worrisome especially at stock speeds.

I installed speed fan..............I am not sure what I am looking at exactly though:confused:

I'm gonna go with either parts are overheating or the PSU is at fault. The most common reason for computers restarting are because of overheating(if it's a continuous problem that is). Does it usually happen when you are playing games or what?

I am notcing now that the copper fins on my MOBO are hot as phuck.........Even with the fans at high and the case open

Which means ??????????
that is the northbridge and yes it should be hot..... i gave myself a first degree burn accidentally touching the heatsink fins on my northbridge...
