A repair should work but you need your installation disc. If you built the PC how did you lose that?
I hear ya man about maintaing a lot of computers alwyas something to fix.lmfao!!!! dude welcome to the world of Winblowz! Had an install done got all the drivers on it and all the software i wanted and i restart the compuiter then BAM file is missing or corrupt please try to repair and the repair doesnt work so you have to reinstall all over again! w00t! You should try working in an enviroment with 1000 XP computers. There is always one not working no matter what you do.
What you suggested, I have yet to make work..... Not saying that it won't, but I never got it to work. My suggestion is the most expensive, but it will work guaranteed. What I just said WILL NOT LOOSE ANY FILES PERIOD it does not have to be the same windows xp disk that came with the pc just borrow one
With this info, my guess would be your motherboard is either toast or on its way.i reformatted with the os disk, finally got every thing working and now a week later it wont even turn on. i push the button to turn it on and get the lights on the box on, all the fans are on (including the fan on the video card), but the monitor is getting no signal and the mouse and keyboard lights wont turn on. also the cd-rom will open and close.
over the last few weeks ive occasionally seen the computer crash: ill get the blue screen, and have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it working again.
but now that shit wont even turn on, i figure this is all leading back to a hardware problem. im hoping its the hard drive, and fearing its the motherboard.
any input?
If your computer crashed 8 times, you're :and this would be why i run lynx .cause after my computer crashing like 8 times i said phuck bill gates .ran lynx for 4 years now and never a problem not even a virus cause when ppl make virus's they usually make then so that they hit the biggest amount of ppl they can and since linx is not used very much they don't make two many of them. the only problem with it is finding software that will run on it
Sounds to me like a power supply issue. If you ahve another lying around, plug it in and see if it fixes the issue. It is a rather common issue for older PCs.i reformatted with the os disk, finally got every thing working and now a week later it wont even turn on. i push the button to turn it on and get the lights on the box on, all the fans are on (including the fan on the video card), but the monitor is getting no signal and the mouse and keyboard lights wont turn on. also the cd-rom will open and close.

This would be my second guess. I still think it is the PSU.With this info, my guess would be your motherboard is either toast or on its way. Hard to say for sure, but if Windows isn't booting (I am assuming you can't tell if the BIOS is posting since there is no video output), it is a pretty safe guess it's the motherboard.

Similar to a movie I once watched....Best 5 step way to fix this problem. First, unplug everything from said computer. Second, drag said computer to open field. Third, place said computer on ground. Fourth, grab the nearest sledge, bat, tire iron, or whatever your weapon of choice is. Fifth, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif:smash://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif:smash://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif:smash://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif:smash://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif
You sir should never, ever touch a computer again. First off, the OS that you are referring to is called Linux, not linx. Secondly, he is having a hardware issue, which has absolutely nothing to do with his OS. Third, they make this app called an ANTIVIRUS. It keeps you clean.and this would be why i run lynx .cause after my computer crashing like 8 times i said phuck bill gates .ran lynx for 4 years now and never a problem not even a virus cause when ppl make virus's they usually make then so that they hit the biggest amount of ppl they can and since linx is not used very much they don't make two many of them. the only problem with it is finding software that will run on it
