LOL thanks for the input

as for ram im going with this:

4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)

so im guessing its more than enough for vista ultimate.....

as for N card....no idea what it is...but this is the only one and its included

Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card

Wireless N is the lastest innovation in wireless connectivity. Back a few years ago all we had was wireless A and B, they introduced G 2-3 years ago I think and now it is being replaced by N. N is supposed to be alot faster, larger bandwidth, I would make sure its backward compatable, but I'm pretty sure it is.

Don't get the RAM from Dell, as it's a ripoff.

Not sure how much the upgrade will run you, but on my Dell it was over $300 to upgrade from 1gig to 4gigs. I just got the 1gig and bought 2-2gig sticks from Newegg, saved me a ton.

I'll echo what a few others have said here. I've got a Dell 1420, T7500 2.2ghz 4mb cache, with 4gigs of ram and it runs very smooth w/ Vista Premium.

I've said 4 gigs before, but Vista is a memory hog. It is the reason why most people want to stay with XP. You go spend 160 for Home premium upgrade and have to shell out additional money for RAM. They have minimum requirements and recommended requirements. I'd try and surpass the recommended if you want no problems with Vista.

n is backwards compatible.

whats your budget for the laptop?

Vista rocks on a comp spec'ed to run it.

If you're planning on taking it to class why not look at the XPS m1330.

Tiny laptops fukking rawk. I take my XPS m1210 with my everywhere because its light and has great battery life with a 9 cell.

PS: i run vista and love it.

budget not exactly sure....i told my mom 2k and she was liek :O

shes gotta run it by my dad, depending on the mood its probably a go...just need some convincing and hopefully if i tell them im gonna finance theyll give me a better deal.

right now its at 2k, and its only 50bucks more to upgrade from 250gb HD to 320gb hd.....
