thinking about picking up an ATI 9800 PRO and ATI says i need a 300w PSU or greater for the system to function normally.... now im getting an SSF, cuz i like desk space, and it only has a 250w PSU. will everything be okay? or will there be some problems?

SSF= Shuttle?

If so thats plenty of power for the 9800 pro. I have a shuttle setup with a 9800 pro and it rocks! The PSU's they put in those PC's have a huge overhead. Even tho they are rated at 250 they can go beyond that.

dang.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif anyone reccomend a good GPU that works with 250w?

I would recommend upgrading the psu to something around 450 watts, then if you want to upgrade anything you'll have room to work and you can run the vid card you want. a nice 450 watt antec psu isn't that expensive, you can get one for like $65 on buy.com

umm HELLO FOLKS???

This is a mini PC, there is NO room for a standard PSU.

flakko, the PSU that comes with that Biostar mini PC will be more than enough for the 9800 pro. I have had mine for 2 years now and havent had a single problem. I am a gamer in my spare time and it works wonderfully.

comparing car audio to a pc is jank //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

and obviously he doesnt know as he is here asking for help.

250 watt psu will work.

trying to run something outside its rated specs is jank, in PC's or car audio. Again i ask if you would run amps with current draw above what your alt puts out? You might be able to get away with it, but there will be problems. You might not see the problems but they will be there just the same. Artifiacts, reboots, and other mystery problems could easily happen. Why do you think they publish those specs? Just for fun?

dang man.... to conflicting POV... on one end, someone actually has personal experience tho.... just like car audio, paper doesnt always tell the truth either.

But why would you plan in advance to take a risk and hope it will work out. Makes no sense to me. I mean if you already had that case and card then it might make sense to try it...but to purchase them new with the hopes it will be OK is retarded IMO. Just do it it right from the start.
