at work i used to have internet connection untill someone screwed it up and got caught on the net when a supervisor was walkin by..so they had a tech come by and do something to kill the connection..and i was told he did it on the comp..so he didnt pull any wires or anything..so does anyone know from where you can connect and disconnect the internet connection?

i think its 56k when i go down to the box it says speed 10.0 mps i know its not wireless
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif my old computer would get average of 15 mbps and it was wireless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Well, actually, since its probably a network, that would be enough info. They could have done 1 of 3 things that I know of.

-They blocked the ISP's off the network

-The turned the routers off

-They cleared the port information to the network from you computer so your computer wouldnt "know" how to get to the internet

Of course, since it's a work network, Im sure it was something even easier than this. Im only familar in setting up a home network. They possibly could have even just disabled the network.

None of which would provide easy access back onto it without getting caught.

If I wanted to disable internet (and not LAN) for one computer I would change the default gateway to some random address.

There could also be a firewall in place blocking all outgoing connections on ports 80 & 21.

What happens when you try to go to an internet site?

PS: 10Mbs is most-likely a 10BaseT ethernet connection.

Yep...

^ ^ Thats pretty much what I was trying to say but I couldnt think of any of the terms...

But anways, you would have to be familar with the network information to get back on it. So unless you have a friend who works with the network management...sorry.

when i try to go to any website it says internet explorer could not find or get this page..also when we sign in to work everyone uses the same username and password..but my teamleader when uses his own username and password on the same computer and he has internet connection..so i think they just did something to the username and password use regular employees use..

Hmm...Something like that would make sense. And probably easier too. All they would have to do is block a user from the network.

This makes me think there's some policy-propagation when you log in. See if internet explorer is set up to use a proxy server...it might be set to something random (purposely).

haha they f'd u is what they did.. they have user accounts setup to log onto the server and in the server it only allows certain rights to certain users... no way of getting around that short of getting ur supervisors password
