computer geniuses, come hither

Sounds like you have a bad agp socket IMHO. to clear the cmos power off the computer, remove the battery and there will be a jumper that says clear cmos. put the jumper to the next pin over for a few seconds. move it back to where it was, reinstall the batt and try again.

no my vid card stopped working, then we put my friends in, both were AGP x8s. his worked with my PC it booted up. mine didnt. so i figured it was that. bought a new one.
went to go put the new one in, and still doesnt work. i have no similar MB so i might have to end buying one, but now they rarely sell 939 socket. its all 754 socket or AM1 and AM2.
AM2, and AM2+, and they're 940 pin. 754 went the way of buffalo long ago. It didn't even have PCIe support...

Ill sell you a computer for 1700.
Antec 900

Quad Core Q6600

Nvidia 680i SLI Ready

4GB of Corsair

2 500GB Hard Drives in Raid

40 Dollar CPU Cooler

22" Monitor

and some other shiz.
Wow. You'd sell that to someone for $1700? What an *******.

Antec 900 $119

QC Q6600 $240

680i MoBo $140-180

Corsair 4GB dual channel PC6400 $110

HDDs ~$220

22" monitor is pretty vague. I'll call it $250.

That's about $1120 brand new. For brand differences, we'll call it $1400-1500 brand new, with warranty. With the right sales, it could be a $1000 rig. These are general prices from newegg.com. I know Fry's has the Q6600 on sale for $180 right now.

where does it get to on the mobo. you may have an irq conflict that was created when you put the friends card in.
IRQ conflicts are pretty much non-existent these days. With the newer technologies we have now, IRQ handling is much improved. Not to say that these issues are non-existent, just unlikely. Especially, when his problem apparently popped up out of nowhere, without how making any changed. With the removal of low bandwidth, high latency devices, it's possible for the BIOS to handle much more information on a single channel than it was back in the P3 days.

Yes I would sell it for 1700.
22" Hanns G Monitor - 250

8800GT(Overclock by me at 675 core clock stable) - 220

680i Mobo - 180

Q6600 - 250

Antec 900 - 110

Extra Fans plus CPU Cooler - 60

CD/DVD Drive - 30

2 500GB Western Digital HDD - 220

4GB Corsair - 110

Vista Premium 64Bit - 100

700W Rocket Fish PSU - 160

Thats 1670 right there and coming all built with Vista on it. 1700 is worth it IMO.
your insane, i will leave it at that

if you are looking to sell you should sell it soon, cause that will be worth about $1k at most in 6 months

at this time, vista 64bit is actually a disadvantage
