Computer case painting

I have been trying to paint a computer case forever, but I can never get it to my satisfaction with Spray paint. I sanded, painted, sand some more, then paint some more, but it never comes out smooth.

I would like to try rolling some paint on there with a super fine roller, but not sure what kind of paint I should use. I want a glossy finish, but needs to stick to both metal and plastic.

Any suggestions?

I also need to paint a gamecube, I put about 15-20 coats on it sanding in between, but the coats never come out even and smooth. I am not very good at spray painting apparently.

youll never get a good SHINY finish with a roller. Start by using fill primer, let dry and sand smooth. 2nd spray it with a quality paint (duplicolor works pretty good when using automotive finish) when you spray, you use nice even passes and WATCH the paint flow on. Dont spray like the idiots you see on TV home improvement shows. You'll never get a good finish scribbling with a spray can. Once the base looks good, use clear coat (same brand base you used) and again,. WATCH the paint flow on to achieve a smooth even finish.

I dont really care how shiny it is, as long as the paint is smooth. Maybe my problem is the paint I use. I use the cheap paint at walmart thats like 97 cents a can. I think part of the problem is I am not patient enough.

I am starting to try and repaint my gamecube. I took it and sanded it with some 320 grit sandpaper, then took it to the 800 and wet sanded it. Its pretty smooth now. I was using that expensive stuff, krylon fusion (yellow) for plastic. But I after laying 15+(lmao) coats on it its still not looking good, so at this point I think regular spray paint should stick. I just laid a thin coat of black paint over it. I am going to have to get some rough sandpaper bore the holes for the buttons out, cuz after 15 coats of paint the buttons stick, surprised they still fit.
