Computer and internet connection q

You can, using ICS (internet connection sharing) presuming you are running at least Windows 98 SE (which you almost certainly are), but then you would need another NIC card.

You are better off just dropping the 25 bucks on a cheapo Linksys and splitting your public ip into 2 192.168.x.x private ips imo.

The linksys will basically self-configure. All you have to do is enable DHCP on the clients.

Shaw Cable ... 7 Mbps + 100 GB/month + free newsgroup access = t3h w1n
Lucky....

Comcastused to give a no limit to their newsgroup downloading but now it only gives 2 gigs worth and its retention sucks.

On topic, if you were to split your connection instead of getting a router, you would also be sharing your total potential speed, correct?

If one you were downloading, lets say something off of a newsgroup, and then you were playing on xbox live, live would be ridiculously laggy, right?

Depends how fast you are downloading compared to the total available down/up rates, but yeah essentially you are splitting 1 real "outside" connection to 2 "inside"connections.
