compustar 2wss-as on ford explorer?

i have a 97 ford explorer with a viper791xv installed. i have a brand new compustar 2wss-as thats been sitting in my room for about a year now. dont really wanna pay 200+ to get it installed, plus whatever its gonna cost to get the 791xv uninstalled properly so i can sell it for whatever its worth =/

is it hard to install an alarm on a ford explorer? is it easier/harder if there's one installed already? both are remote start/2 way....so....i dont know anything about alarms really...i wanna start researching though so i can hopefully install it eventually myself(i'd like to learn, but i doubt ill be able to in the end:furious: )

edit: some people have told me that the compustars you buy on ebay are refurbs and the brain's will go bad...is that true? mine was supposedly new when i bought it, and it looked new when i got it...anyways to tell if its been refurbished?
