well for 400$ id reccommend couple things

oz 180 cs, pm addisdar above you

rainbow cmx or germaniums 350 or 450 your choice pm 6spdcoupe or audiojunkies

dls ur6s very nice set just like other recommendations

Ive also heard a lot of great crap about polk audio sr 6 1/2 comps lately. Heard they sound unreal, great quality, nice x overs, amazing tweet. their 500$ though or so on ebay. very nice.

I like soft dome tweeters for that reason.

Take a look at Exile Xtecs. The highs are very nice, and not at all harsh.

You sound like someone who likes a milder hard dome as opposed to silk. I'd say take a look at Boston Acoustics Pros or Z6s or JL Audio XRs.

All of the above suggestions are great speakers as well, but they're silk dome, so you might have to do a bit of listening to make sure they fit the bill in the brightness department.
