both those mentioned are the vifa's and not the ring revs... the only 2 car audio comp sets with the true rings are the Alpine F1's which I do not like..... and the Genesis absolute's.... both are very pricey.....

The problem with most ring radiator tweeters is their off-axis response. You basically have to play them dead on-axis. When you do, you get very high quality sound, and in the case of the Vifa XT25, and XT19, it's great sound for a very low price.

If you want to play with different tweeters, you might want to think about doing something active. The Alpine variant XT19, found in the SPX-177R sets can be found on PacParts for $14.00 a piece. If you can just find a good deal on the Alpine set, then that's not a bad option either. I'm not a fan of that mid, but the tweeter and crossover are top notch.

once again...these are vifa tweeters and not the scan ring revs...huge difference
Because there's a huge price difference doesn't make the XT25 not a ring radiator. Yes, there is a huge difference between the two tweeters, but it's the same as saying the Vifa D26 tweeter isn't a true small dome tweeter because it's not the Scan D2904/6000.

Are you taling about the Genesis Absolute R1? Aren't the diaphrams a very similar design as the Vifa XT25?

R1

XT25

And yes, the F1's and the R1's are disgustingly pricey. Especially the Genesis R1's (about $2000 each last I knew).

I have the R1's in my car...... but the Vifa's and the scan ring rev's are nothing alike other then both have a ribbed shaped dome and phase plug....

Good gravy you have $4000 worth of tweeters in your car! Daymn.

Of course they're not alike... if I'm remembering correctly, aren't the R1's using a photolithographed voice coil whereas the Vifa's are still coil wound wire?

And they're not even covered //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I'm hoping something goes over those, but I don't see any mounting holes for a grill.

Seems WAY unsafe on the floor like that, either getting stepped on, dirt/mud from shoes or whatever.

To the OP: I've been running the XT25's for about a year now and really enjoy them. Sounds is very smooth/detailed, not overly bright. At times I'd like a little more volume from them, but that's what the rear fill is for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Are they pointing straight at you?

Pass side is pretty much on-axis, but not the driver's side as they're kind of low in the doors. I have the large format ones from AA, so not easy to put in the A pillars.

I'm really happy with the sound of them though. I used to like brighter tweets, usually titanium, as I had JBL's in the car & home. But these have grown on me and just sound pleasing to my ears.

MiniVanMan is creeping up behind you to kick you in the back of the head. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
