Components vs. Power (?)

I am running Focal Polyglass 165's

70rms

140peak

Currently, they are running off an older Diamond D1 250.2 getting ~75rms each. However, the amp is entry level.

I am looking to purchase a JL 300/2 which would throw 150rms @ the Focal's. Would they be able to handle this? Obviously no clipping or distortion would be allowed. Obviously I could adjust the gain appropriately. However if the JL only was putting out ~75rms as well, would the clarity, quality of the signal have a noticable effect to my ears?

Thanks.

I am not all too familiar to how Focal's rated power compares to their real world power as I have not pushed any of their product to failure.

Any help would be appreciated, not in the mood to go component shopping. Thanks.

C'mon pplz, where is all the knowledge at?

I'm just wondering if there is an audible difference in between amps @ same power, and if Focals can handle more than rated.

they should handle right around 125 rms just fine just gain match it. we ran the 4125 to the same speakers just fine in a customers truck we turned it down just a bit to keep em from getting smelly cuz the 4125 is under rated a tad.

Another thing to consider is the crossover slope. The higher the slope the more the power handling increases with an unclipped signal.
