Competition Re MT's

Ugh... yes it would.

I don't understad why people think that an MT needs 40,000w to play.

MT's are louder per watt than most speakers you can buy.

An MT with 1,000 watts will still play louder than an SX with 1,000 watts.

Well, David wasn't my source and it was from way back when I first registered. I always figured it was true. The MT is just huge, I figured the weight of the copper on the bobbin needed to handle the million watts it can take and the extra media needed to keep the cone from breaking under the pressure of it's Xmax would give it a low efficiency. *shrugs* I believed what I was told, and I'm wrong. Oh well.

Someone that admitted when they were wrong; Thats a first! At least he had the decency to admit his mistake take what others say with a grain of salt unless they have owned the sub before.

I have it in 6cubes @ 35hz....loud and the SQ is not bad at all...it really suprised me how it sounded at lower volumes (pretty clean)...I could only imagine with a lower tuning at maybe 28-30hz...click on my gallery link to see some pics of my setup

I see you had a XXX too, how do they compare on the same power. How much of a difference in sq and spl is there? That MT is huge!!! Have you ever heard a sx I was thinking 2 12" Sxs or 1 15" Mt both with my amp in my signature. Thanks for the input.

On the same amp...the difference in straight output/SPL is huge...the XXX I would say had a slight edge in lowend...like 30hz and under (probably cuz the box was tuned lower around 32hz vs. 35) but above that it's no contest...above 45-50hz the XXX was really lacking...it didn't really have any punch. The MT on the other hand is SOLID into the 70hz range (i was playin around with test tones). With my results, it leads me to agree that the MT is much more efficient than the XXX or even the 9515...i've never heard an SX so I can't really comment on that...but if your lookin for a LOUD streat beater and aren't a SQ freak then get an MT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I can get a real good deal on two 12" mts. How much do you think I could get for one of them? I only need one, two would be a lot of electrical work that I dont want to deal with. Just looking for a ballpark figure on how much you think I could get for one. Thanks

Cadillac Sts right now... Big enough to put a few bodies in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif . No telling may get something smaller with a hatch, sportscar!! I found 2 only used at db Drag World Finals dual 1.4's. Re's VCs are actually closer to dual 2's right? My amp makes the most wrms at 4 ohms so that would be optimal. What would I need to do to run 5000w in my cadillac I know big three, ho alt, how many batteries!?! and some serious wiring.

I'm not sure exactly what you'd need...but definitely a H.O. alt...but I guess for GM cars...especially Caddy's (i shoulda kept my '91 DeVille) they aren't that expensive...at least not compared to my car...I can' t find one under $400 my Altima.

I'd keep your stock alternator to run your vehicle, speakers amps, and such. I'd add a second alternator, HO 220-300 amp to run dedicated to your subwoofer amplifier(s), run at least 2 runs of 1/0 to the rear from the dedicated alternator, and have about 4 d31 Optima Yellow tops in parallel.

I'm doing something similar in my truck, except my dedicated alternator will be running @17-18v run to TWO Banks of 16v batteries (6 total) in the rear. Prolly around 6000+ rms two a wall of THREE 15MT's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

Most important of all, it usually stops the "STFU, dumbass" posts in their tracks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
