Comparison Test : 2 VFL 150.1s v 1 XX Colossus

2 hc2400s in the back and 2 12" SX subs. Not changing anything except doing a direct swap at 1 ohm stereo, then .5 ohm mono.

So far

At 1 ohm stereo, colossus is down by 1.2 dbs

At .5 ohm mono, it is down by .7 dbs

Gonna try some more tricks though.

what's the rated rms that both of these should put out at those #'s?? i know i could look up the colossus but i figured you're on and well you dont have to look it up:

colossus is 3200w mono at 2 ohm, I think 14.4v

VFLs are 2000w at 1 ohm at 12v

Heres an interesting note...

I went down 2 freqs from what I burp at with the VFLs, and the score just went up

Now I am .2 down from the VFLs

Im gonna tinker with the settings now.

I guess you can say this is a very strong amp from being almost as strong, if not as strong, as 2 vfls.

They do not need to be modded for higher voltage or lower impedence.

The VFLS really shine at 16v+

is that 2kw per vfl or what?? i used to know those amps well but that was when they first came out and people made such a big deal about them.

Yes 2kw per amp

I cant find my dmm, but I believe the coils on the SXs are something like 2.6, Im not exactly sure.

If thats the case, then its .65 dcr, not .5

And 1.3 dcr

I didnt have my dmm for the colossus test, but for the VFLs, it was dropping from 14.7 to 11v

I would assume it is about the same.
