Comparing W505 and DNX8120

7120 doesnt have bluetooth built in

The W505 might not have all that stuff built in but if Bluetooth, Nav, et al are "nice add-ons but not really necessary" you can get the W505 for quite a bit cheaper. On Ebay, brand new, I've seen the W505 for mid-$700, but the Kenwood is always over $1000. Maybe not a huge deal for some, but I do like the option to pay a bit less now and add the bits I decide I want later. I tend to be an Alpine fan due to my past experiences with their gear though, so I am not completely unbiased.

Hello everyone...

I am also having a real hard time deciding between W505 and DNX8120.

I can get Kenwood for $200 extra over Alpine and I really like that it has Bluetooth/Garmin Navi but I loveeeee Alpine's resolution.

Since Bluetooth is not really a deal breaker for me... would it be worth getting Alpine and a seperate portable navigation or take the Kenwood route? I do realize that Kenwood has a lot more SQ settings and better pre-outs but for right now I'm running stock speakers in my 350Z which I do plan on upgrading within a year with nice $500-600 2-way component speakers...

What do you guys think?

Well, I've had good experience with Alpine, so I went with the 505, got a good deal from a local audio store going out of business on the plug-in navi module, which also takes care of the Bluetooth, and the Imprint processor which takes care of the pre-outs and EQ. I'm not sure about the Pioneer pricing, but the W505 can be found for about $300 off the list of $1100. That discount paid for almost all of the navi and Imprint costs I incurred.
