Common mistakes to avoid when installing an aftermarket HU

buy a wiring harness and don't be a cheap *** and cut the factory harness.
In some cars cutting the harness is the only way.

I hate when you need to have the key on ACC to listen to music or lose your settings half hour after you take the key out of the ignition.

Don't just twist the wires together and cover with electrical tape.

Heat shrink is your friend.

 
definatley get a wiring harness, definately disconnect your battery, and take your time.

if you bought the unit new, look at the installation manual and it will tell you everything you will need to know.

If you get a scoche wiring harness, everything will be color matched to your headunit also.

as long as your not colorblind, you cant mess up.

 
get a HU that can do Time Alignment so you can do this:
