college transfer

How hard is it to transfer in-state from a community college to a 4 year university?

Specifically UNC Charlotte (which has a 76% acceptance rate & accepted 3400 of 4100 applications for transfer students in the Fall of '09)

from uncc.edu............

Before applying for transfer admission to UNC Charlotte, please review the following admissions requirements:

Requirements

  1. Minimum High School Course Requirements: All students under the age of 24 by the time of enrollment at UNC Charlotte are required to have passed the following high school classes**:

    • 4 units of English
    • 4 units of math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and an advanced math)
    • 3 units of science (biological science, physical science and a science with a lab)
    • 2 units of social studies (1 unit must be U.S. History)
    • 2 units of the same foreign language

[*]24 transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited institution. If you have less than 24 transferable hours you must meet freshman high school GPA and SAT/ACT requirements for admission.

[*]2.0 cumulative college GPA for all courses as calculated by the UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Admissions Office.

[*]Student must be in good standing and eligible to return to the last school attended.

............

1. I was homeschooled my 9-12 grade years (graduated in '07), & I have all the required high school classes, as well as a 3.27 final GPA for hs & SAT score of 1490 (May '06, not sure what the scale was then)

2. will not have 24 credits, just the 12 that I'm taking this semester & my hs GPA was 3.27 & SAT of 1490.

3. 2.0 is the minimum, I'll have atleast a 3.0

4. yupp

.....will I have any trouble transferring to UNC Charlotte?

I have little to no desire in going anywhere else. UNCC is a pretty easy school to get into, I'm just bored @ work & curious as to whether or not I should waste my money on an application.

I currently have a 1.2 college GPA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif....from dropping out of an english class in hs, but I'm at the same school & retaking that same english, as well as pre calculus & a few electives....if I make A's, which I will, my GPA will be around 3.1-3.2

...also, should I apply now, wait until mid-term to show that my grades from this semester are A's, or wait until theend of the semester so my GPA is over 3.0?

I'm kinda doing that here with a small community college then transferring back to IU. You're def going to want to get the college gpa up, because if they have a lot of applications they will look at every single person closely and take the best. Also check with Uncc to make sure what community college credits you have will transfer.

I would put in the application, it cant hurt and they're what, ~$40 or less? Good luck on it tho bro, I come out to that area about once a year to visit my grandparents, they live in Albemarle, not to far away.

In california you can get application fees waived if you are eligible for pell grant...also in california, transferring college students are required to have a 2.8gpa for their college career up to the point of transfer

I forgot about being able to get the fees waived, You can here in indiana too, coming out of highschool I applied to all kinds of schools just to see my options because it was all free.

I'll have no problem making all A's, I'm actually dedicated to doing the work now. So my GPA will be around 3.0.... I took my placement tests @ the community college in '06 & placed in the 91% for the state of NC.

As for pell grants, aint happen'n....my parents are together, but either of them alone make too much money for me to get a dime. however, they are helping out w/ school, so it's all good.

Sounds like you can get in, just make sure your grades are up and they'll like that.

UNCC accepts all the credits offered by my comm college's transfer program.

$50. which still isn't bad compared to UNC Chapel Hill .....$250

& only around 30% of IN-State applicants get accepted to UNC CH. life's a bitch.
you need some more good schools in the state lol. I remember when I sent in my app to IU and a day later they said there was a waiting list on apps, I got accepted two weeks later. I was f'n tickled pink.
