Cold weather affecting speakers and subs?

I noticed that since its pretty cold now, maybe around 30-38F, that my speakers sound really weird. My subs sound like crap, but it gets better as I play it. Sometimes my drivers in the front *freeze*, and when I tap or push them in abit they start to play again. is this norma? Anything I should do? Thanks

mine too, it is 29 right now and they sound funny. Can't explain it, just not loud and sound shitty. I just warm up the car and they sound great again.

I play everything low for a little while and turn it up gradually. works for me

You DO NOT want to start playing you speakers in the cold at even close to loud volumes. Until the speakers and all warm up than slowly start turning it up. The woofers rubber and all is very stiff when cold and the voice coils have to work much harder to work them back and forth. So let your car and speakers warm up and like talking volume for like 5-10 minutes.

I would imagine its the suspension firming up from the cold. Not really much you can do other then let them warm up.

ya you should let the speakers "warm" up a bit before u crank it.

lol i think i have proof of this kinda...

every morning i get in the car before school, and i just turn bass to about 20% and let it play for like 10 mins and then start to crank it, for the last 10 mins it takes to get there, and it sounds fine,

a buddy of mine gets in the car n cranks it, his voice coil is seriously ****ing up right now,idk if thats from cold but every morning its around 20 or lower.. so it could have somethin to do with it....

My only suggestion would be to let them warm up before you crank them. I hope that answer helps you out.

let them warm up like everyone else say's. i usually remote start truck with blower on heat up to warm em up then even then slowly have vol at like 15. then slowly turn it up.

I think you all should get yourself one of those engine & cabin heaters, "Ebersprecher" is one brand over here, they are timeroperated and fueled by your gas, very convinient, never a cold car again, and maybe I should get one as well as winter is approaching, and Santa is on his way?

i installed a space heater in my trunk. never freezes any more.
