I don't see what A&F, Hollister, Lacoste, etc. are doing different then any other brand of clothing out there.

Their clothes are pretty generic...generic striped patterns, plain polos, stone-washed jeans (which everyone does now)- it's all the same stuff that you find out there. You're paying that extra money because you want to feel special.
