clipping

is there any cheap handhelds to detect clipping? or are they all very expensive?

is a fluke meter for detecting sine waves.

thew maint dept at my work has a bunch of tool. scopes, fluke meters, $100 multimeters, rms clamp meters. probably $5k in electrical handheld components and the guy said i can borrow whatever i need as long as i dont break it , lol

oscilloscope

get a nano oscilloscope, but the problem is you wont get any real output if you set it with a 0 db, or a -3, or even a -6, set it with a -10db tone and turn the subw way down when you can tell its clipping. you're going to have to either have the oscope connected at all time or listen for clipping.

i set my hd3000 with a -6db tone and I still don't reach a soft clip or any clipping for that matter on some rock music. then i go play bass music and i set it on 6/8 on my deck and its clipping to all hell so i have to put it at 5.
