Clipping but No Change in Sound?

Ok, so you'll have to excuse me because I'm totally unknowledged at car stereo.

I'm running two dual 4 ohm CVX's with a 2200d from AudioQue. They slam but sometimes my amp remote's clipping light will blink with each hit of the bass. From what I understand this means that the subs are getting too much power and I need to turn down my gain? I'm not hearing any distortion and nothing is cutting out but this will damage my equipment if I let it continue?

Help! What should I do, will I still beat as loud if I turn down my gain?

Technically, yes, your subs are clipping.

However, to a degree, we can't tell over the series of tubes that consists of the internet.

I'd turn the gain down until that light turns off. Just to be safe.

Clipping doesn't kill drivers. Heat does. Clipping increases heat.

Period means it's a statement and end of a thought.

Also, as for the "not hearing it" part. It takes a trained ear to hear distortion in really low tones.
