i need to know if the actual size of the hdd in a 30gb ipod video is the same size as the 60gb or 80gb video? not size as in capacity, but like would a 60 or 80gb fit in the 30 gb case (arent all 3 ipods the same size from the outside?)

more than likely not.. also if you do take it apart, make sure you're veeerrrry careful prying it apart around the screen, if whatever you use so barely even touches the screen you'll mess it up pretty bad.

First hand experience I take it? Got a question myself about the inner workings of an iPod myself. My dad just got a 3rd Gen 40gb iPod off eBay for christmas. Seeing as how its pretty used, the battery life on it is next to nothing. So I need to get the battery changed on it but dont know how to go about doing it without messing anything up. Do you know if I can send them off to Apple to get the battery changed?

i think if you go to apple.com, and go to the support page and select you ipod, Im pretty sure you can send it in to them and they'll replace the battery, I wanted to send mine in to get a new screen since mines all scratched, and i noticed the option for gettin the battery replaced

they make kits for like 5 bux with "special tools" to take them apart without damaging them. im gonna find something local though thatll work.

I should get a full sized 300gb HD and wire it to an iPod screen and controlls and put the iPod interface on it and make me an uber pod.

People have put linux on their iPod's.

anyone know where i can get tools to take an ipod video without damaging it? i have one with a broken LCD i got for 50 bux, cant tell the lcd is cracked unless u turn it on...ima buy a new one and switch the screens hehe

i actually fuond out that if i get a back case from the 60 or 80 gb hd, itll work with my 30 gb that i have. the 60/80 gb hd is thicker, so id need the back case for like cheap on ebay, and buy an 80gb, switch the lcd and the hd and take back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
