hi guys. well following a tutorial on this procedure for installing 6.5's in the front, it says layer both sides of the rings with 5mm or so of clay. my queston is simple, since i never did this beofre, wouldnt the clay all squish out from the back of the mdf ring when mounted against the door panel ?

also, when mounting the speaker, wouldnt the same happen?

are you to use screws for the speakers, like extra long ones and then dont solidly tighten the speaker to the ring?? and the same for the ring to the door, extra long screws??

you dont screw it all the way down.

i personally use caulk between the door and mdf ring, and put clay on the sides of the ring and between the driver and the ring.

so just use a little longer screws??

at home depot there is a window sealant caulking that works best IMO. it's in a self-dispense can, so no need for a caulking gun. and when it comes time to make it come off, all you have to do is rub on it a little bit, raise the temperature of it, and it unsticks really easy.
