ive noticed when im listening to sabbath or any 60-70 hard rock at high volume my door speakers start to get a little smelly. if i listen to rock from the 90s i can play it a little louder with no problems. im guessing older music isnt as clean and clips easier. any solutions to this?

i have a alpine123 hu, boss 50x4 -older one made by ZED- eclipse pointsourse 6.5 and infinity reference 6.5

the boss has a fixed HPF so theres no adjusting there.

thanks

Older music has little to no compression so you have to turn it up more to hear it. New music is highly compressed so all the levels are the same.
so i should compress it? honestly im not too sure what your telling me.

much of classic rock was recorded much better and sounds much better. Instead of compressing everything and jacking up the gain, they actually allowed room for dynamics. Read up on the loudness war.

With older music you need to make sure you have a good source. Don't use 128 mp3. Try to get CD quality or at least 320. In addition, you may have to pay attention to which individual release the cd is or the mp3 was ripped from. Some sound better than others and many of the "remasters" sound worse then the original masters.

yah, im probably the only one on this site that still buys cds. can not figure out that itunes, just horrible with computers, really only been using them for 3-4 years. notice theres no picture next to my name...cant figure that one out either-hell i aint even got a digital camera.
