Clarion DXZ955MC - 9855/880PRS Killer? *Pics*

I think at the given price, the 880 was a GREAT choice for this market. I think Pioneer should offer a better version of the deck...maybe call it the 990 and offer a 4-WAY CROSSOVER, 31 BAND EQ and a few other things like a better transport and keep the price at about $650-800 or so. I think these would sell very well also.
eh, you'll loose a lot of customer base jacking the price up right there. they are popular with the middle range audiphiles and imo it offers plenty of audio features for that group. what i would improve is the display, and work on a ipod interface like alpine's.

i used to own a 9835. i think i like the pioneer better. easier to navigate and bigger eq. display is nicer on the alpine though.
I agree 100%....As much as I love the 9835 the 880 just has better and more features. Still the best HU Alpine has ever made though. I absolutley loved that thing. Wish I never sold it!

You dumbass. It does have a 3-way xover, and more sound tweaking features than the 9855. It's also a hell of a lot easier to use, and has plenty of other things that the people at Alpine haven't even touched yet. I have owned both, and the DXZ955 is far superior to the 9855. Do yourself a favor and drink some bleach, and cleanse the stupidity from yourself.
***.

site says 2-way xover, im just going based of what i found

and im not one that needs to curse to try to make my point more valid in the eyes of others, i feel that the clarion isnt a superior deck, if you do, then thats your opinion, no need to insult others

Pay attention.... you might learn something!

Aside from the equalizer, the Clarion is just as capable, if not moreso than the 880 as far as sound processing. It has more features, and an extremely easy interface, easier than other models of Pioneers I've used. (DEH P1800-6800)

P9 combo anyone...

How?

To set the xovers, you do

Sound

Settings

Xovers

Set the high xover and slope

Press the button to go to mid hpf

set the hpf xover and slope

Press the button to go to mid lpf

set the lpf xover and slpoe

press the button to go to sub lpf

set the sub lpf xover and slope.

not hard at all. very easily and logically laid out.

just to get to the xover on the 9855 took me a while to figure out. i actually had to read the manual!

Then, you have to punch around and figure out what's what, and some of the buttons go and exit you from the menu. unless you have read the manual and understood it, theres nothing user friendly about the 9855. I found all the features on the 955 easily within seconds, and was able to adjust them on the first try.

cliffs notes: the 9855 is a pain in the ***, and the touchscreen on the clarion makes it all really easy
