Citizen's arrest is only if you can enforce it. You have to prove you are in "fear" of your life, before you pull a gun. Shooting someone because they walk out with a bottle of MD, is no reason for him to shoot you. Now punching him in the neck.....in a court of law he might get away with shooting you, but that is a might.
