The other day I got pulled over and got 3 citations. Non standard taillights, no front plate, and my side windows are to dark. I know my taillights are illegal so I wont fight that, but my front plate is inside in the vehicle mounted on the dash just like I see all the time on other cars, and my side windows are only 25%, I dont know what this cops problem was but they arn't even that dark. I've seen factory stock cars with darker windows than mine. And whats funny is my back window is 2.5% and he didn't even say anything about it. I had a shop do my side windows and they even said they were legal. I hate ****ing cops that look for an excuse just to pull you over.

Just because other people do it, doesn't mean it's legal. What does the law say about where the front license plate is to be mounted? We don't have front plates in Arkansas so I have never had to look it up, but you might want to. A defense in court of, "but everyone else does it" won't fly with a judge.

Lol, the best part of the story is when you said " i know my tail lights are illegal " so why do you have something on your car when you know its illegal? Good job
Satan ~ do you ever listen to your stereo at levels that were a cop sitting next to you in traffic you'd most likely get a noise pollution ticket? I would suggest that there's not many of us here that have been driving for any length of time that haven't committed a violation or three knowingly.

OR....the other answer...because it's his ride and he wanted to? Depending on your location and how much you cause the local constabulary to take specific notice of you can make worlds of difference in what you can and can't get away with.

I can't speak with any certainty about the cops in Oregon...never been pulled over there....but the cops where I live generally don't give folks too much static about 'mildly illegal' happenings. I've been pulled over a few times now for various infractions.....too dark tint, red bulbs on my license plate instead of white bulbs...fog lights being brighter than my headlights.....silly shit like that. Not one ticket for it yet (*knock on wood*)

They'll normally use it as a legitimate reason to pull you over if you're not doing anything else (speeding, drunk driving, etc). When they don't find anything out of place excepting someone being a little more into their car than the average citizen (and assuming that everything else is as it should be....current insurance, registration, driver's license, no smell of alchohol or drugs, blah blah blah) you'll more often than not simply be turned loose.

Good manners when faced with a cop looking for a reason to write a citation or three can make all the difference in the world. It never ceases to amaze me how often politeness can diffuse even the most volatile of confrontations.

plate has to be on the front most part of the car..
i got 28 tickets in a year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Tickets just for improperly placed front plates? Manoman....close to 30 tickets can't be good for the budget. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Glad Louisiana hasn't decided on following TX example!

none of em were for a license plate..totaled to $2138.44 (remember the exact figure years later lol)...ended up getting em all taken care of for $225 and defensive driving //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Well - less than $250 and having to sit in a boring class for a few hours is certainly easier to swallow than over $2K!

Never had a license plate ticket either, myself. Been stopped for the red lights but never ticketed. The country I'm in currently has plates front and back in all 8 of their states. Dunno how much a ticket for that might be, though...

my dad got pulled over the other day by 2 cops for having a 2 day old expired tag. when he got his liscense out it was 10 days expired... and he didnt have his seat belt on. we have SOME ok cops here where i live... luckily they were cool and only got him for the no seatbelt because we had insurance. i dont no why they didnt get him for expired drivers liscense.
