When cutting the holes out for the subs and the ports is it best to use a router or a jigsaw if using 3/4" MDF.

i would imagine that a jigsaw may be slightly easier than a router...atleast when it comes to staying on the line

a router with a nice easy homemade circle jig....this website shows you how to make one:

or a roto-zip with there circle cutter....i just got that and its the easiest way i have ever done it.

If you do use a rotozip, be sure to take it slowly and don't force it. I have destroyed so many of those bits because they got too hot, especially on the thicker stuff.
