I am numb to all religious activity. Religion(both catholicism and lutheran, yes they are different)has been pounded into my brain for the past 14 years. Everytime i hear something more about God/Jesus, etc. I want to believe even less. I know it sounds like a bad thing, and i may be a bad person for saying it, but if you were in my shoes you'd know how i feel.

A question NONE of my teachers has been able to answer: I was taught that God knows our WHOLE life, he knows everything that we are going to do, all the decisions we are going to make. If that holds true, how can he be angry at us for making wrong decisions? He knew we were going to make it, he planned that out, so how can he be mad at us? Ponder that for a while.
Well we do have free will. There for we have a multitude of paths and endings to our life’s. They are infinite God no’s every single one.

Your just basically saying the same thing all of my religion teachers said. You're saying we have freewill. I don't think we do because God has our whole life planned out. He KNOWS what decision we're going to make.

I know i can argue and argue, and i know it's stupid, but nobody has ever made a strong case saying that what i said above isn't true.

Stand up, grab the knife out of the kitchen, and cut off your middle finger. Or don't...

Whatever you did - you did it because that's what you chose to do.

You stated two things that are not intertwined. Just because this diety 'knows' what you are going to do doesn't mean it is forcing you to do it.

You are as free as your mind allows you to be.

As for this and the rest, I'm atheist. I go my way, and let everyone else go theirs, I harbor no ill will toward any belief structure so long as they don't try to impose it upon me.

same, i'm atheist but it's not like i go preaching my beliefs (or lackthereof) to people. everyone here jumps at the opportunity to express their opinion on certain subjects...there is no reason why this thread should turn into a religious debate.

i have plenty to say but i'm going to keep my mouth shut on this one :x

You no after the sea was split and the dudes walked thru and hommie was up getting the 10 commandments. They thot cus the cows walked thru the parted sea first that they were blessed or some crap. So they made a statue of a caf out of gold. Well god got pissed and wanted to kill them all. IT WAS GODS PLAN TO KILL THEM ALL. But Moses talked to god and changed his mind. God has changed his mind on a few other occasions because of our actions. God does not choose our rout in life for us. But he does no the most perfect one. And I bet you that not one person on the face of this earth followed that rout NOT EVEN JESUS.

here here Josh.

To each their own, different strokes for different folks, and all that jazz.

I was born a Jew, live as a Jew, but do not actively practice the religion.

I believe firmly in the existence of free will, and sometimes question the existence of a higher being of some sort. I guess you could almost say I am a skeptical agnostic. I don't like thinking that I am not in complete comtrol of my life and the choices I am making and as such, I believe that nothing forces me to make the choices that I do make.

Anyways, this was not an example of evangelism, at least not as I regard it. Did he force you to click on his link or read it? No. He posted it in a public forum (ok, not in the off topic section, but at least clearly labeled) giving you the option of clicking on it or not. Deal with your own inadequacies if you take offence to this. He did not force you to do anything, he is not trying to sell anything, not beg for money. He merely presented those taht were interested a viable place to express their opinions on religious matters. Well within his right. You don't care? Don't click. Don't flame.

so what are your beliefs?
if you seriously want me to say them, i will. i hope that you can take them in a mature manner, and respect my opinion.

i don't believe in any religion, i don't believe in god, and i don't believe that there was a creator either.

now if you choose to bash me, go ahead. you can do what you want. i just hope that you can be mature about it.

I'm not even gonna bother anymore. p169, your religious....good for you. You believe what you want, but i stick to my story.

I'm a physical person, i like physical evidence of stuff. It's very difficult for me to believe in something that has an impact on your entire life and you don't even know if it truly does exist or not.

No, I am not bashing I was just checking. You said you were atheist and then you said you were not preaching your beliefs. You kind of threw me on the belief thing since atheist dont have any beliefs so I was just asking to clarify that you knew what you wer talking about.

beliefs (OR lackthereof) is what i said //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and atheists DO have beliefs: they don't believe in religion. that is a belief. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I find debating/talking about religion on any forum except for a religious one is mainly going to fall upon deaf ears and most likely piss people off.

The best way to really communicate with someone about religion is one on one

Heaven and Hell alike are associated with Christianity and Satanism.
Both know the other is there, and acknowledge it.

Always two sides Good and Evil.

Don't believe in Jesus or satan? Can't very well go to either place now can we? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Food for thought!

if i live way out in the country and dont know the police exist and go out and kill someone im still going to jail. if i dont believe that blasting my ears with large amounts of bass will destroy my ears, my ears are still going to get messed up, if something exists and you dont believe in it, it still exists

I thought that previous statement I made would bring in some interesting thoughts! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
