Religion is man going to God

Christianity is God coming to man

Theres a diff between the 2

Mormans think that if they do X they will get into heaven.

Christ died for US so WE can go to Heaven, we did no work, HE came to US, so Christianty doesn't fall under "normal" type of religion.

Better to have something to believe in than believe in nothing at all.

We loose hope, we loose ourselves.......

I am a Christian. I believe in God.

There really aren't as many contradictions in the Bible as one would think. It was written quite a long time ago, and is not modernized. (Nor can it be according to God's word within the book)

A simple language barrier makes some things appear difficult to understand, or appear to be contradictory; thus we find ourselves mildly confused on some issues.

We all interprit things differently, but ultimately the text of the Bible has one meaning.

A simple link or offer to discuss one's religious point of view should in no way be offensive to anyone. Sharing one's faith may help someone else to find their own.....

To deny oneself knowledge and introspect regardless of personal belief does no one good.

The main problem with the Christian religion is its title. There are many different religious beliefs that fall under this title. It is not really the word of god that contradicts itself but rather some of the people that twist the interpretations of it. Mormons for example have added a book to the bible that is continuously changed because problems are found with it. You have churches that now accept the homosexual lifestyle as being okay, churches that feel women should be allowed to have abortions under any circumstance, churches that feel doing good work gets you into heaven, churches that believe children should be baptized when they don't even understand the purpose of being baptized and what it is demonstrating. In modern times it seems as long as your religion uses pieces of the bible and adds a little of their own spices it is considered Christian. I see no problem with religions stating that a new site has opened and if any of you are interested here's the address. Now it would be different if he forced you to go to the site. Just as someone that likes boxing can post a site that talks about the sport of boxing. Some may feel the sport of boxing is bad and evil and barbaric, but the person hasn't forced you to go to the site, you have only been invited to go to the site. I totally see where both people are coming from. The title Christianity has become more and more contradictory. People have put their own spins and twists on it. Chrisitans are not better than any other person on the planet. All humans sin and do bad. They may choose to not partake in the events that you are doing, but this is not to show you up (or to say that they are better) but rather due to the fact that they feel it is a sin. There are churches throughout the world that are not teaching the truth. There are churches that are out for your money. All of this is true.

take this to another forum. not this one. but since it is then i will add my opinion. religion is what killed the 3000 plus people on september 11 2001. religion is killing people all the time. because religion has been drilled into our heads as a belief instead of an idea people have gotten to the point of wanting to kill because other people dont BELIEVE the same way they do. a person shouldnt have to go to a certain place(church, mosque, etc.) to talk to god. that can be done while sitting on the toilet as far as im concerned(i have done that a time or two especially around the hoilday eat-a-thons!!) if you live your life going on what a book tells you then you need to wake up and smell the roses! the most popular version of the bible is the king james version. that means it was written under the rule of king james. well, my history lessons taught me that king james screwed his mom. he didnt know it was his mother but if someone is having *** with someone that is old enough to be their mother that throws up a big red flag for me. especially when my relegious ideas are involved. one more thing, if king james didnt want something(or wanted something for that matter) in the bible then it didnt(or did) get put in. he was king and his word was final. use your brain people and think for yourself. dont put all your faith in a book. just remember, no one knows what happens to you after you die. everyone only has an IDEA of what happens. so why not live your life to the fullest and enjoy the time that you have here!!!
I didn't read your post because I kept staring at your avatar. :thumbsup

my opion is church is all BS, and its for the "scarred" people and have nothing better to do in life. My uncle is a pastor for a christain? chruch, and i think its all bs. and i told him that. most pastors use the system to get money, all church is, is a scam to take your money. dont believe me? well its true

I could care less if you worship a rock in your front yard. The only thing that perturbs me is that a belief can become a religion which people are willing to force upon others, die for, and generally corrupt. I wholeheartedly believe that the majority of people need something to put faith whether it is an omnipitent being or that tomorrow will bring something better.

I'm agnostic. I've read selections from the Bible, the Koran, the Book of Mormon, some Buddhist writings, and even some Scientology. I made my decision based from what I gathered from reading texts and asking members of a particular belief system. I may go to hell for my decision. I may end up dying and coming back as a lab rat. I may even just cease to exist. No one really knows and I haven't seen anyone come back from death to share their experience.

So I think everyone who wants to believe in this or that can. It doesn't matter if you go to church on Sunday or a *****house; as long as the Sunday parisheners don't come to the *****house to protest and the *****s don't go to church to recruit, it's fine with me. One group has their beliefs and the other has theres; no one going to change the other's ideas anytime soon so there is no point in trying to convert someone else to the other's side.

Heaven and Hell alike are associated with Christianity and Satanism.

Both know the other is there, and acknowledge it.

Always two sides Good and Evil.

Don't believe in Jesus or satan? Can't very well go to either place now can we? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Food for thought!

Joshpoints- I completely concur with a majority of your observations.

One reason we were all(well, some of us! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) endowed with intelligence; to see the fact from fiction and make the correct choice amidst the confusion.

If you have ever watched the movie Stigmata, I personally believe the words that were found in the missing gospel of Jesus make more sense than some may realize.

".......Split a piece of wood and I will be there. Lift a stone and you shall find me."

The Bible says essentially the same thing several times, that Jesus is there for us all of the time.

That's my view on it.

I thoroughly believe that mature conversation about religion is possible, and also very evident in it's maturity by the comments of those involved.

Thoughts?

A mature conversation about religion is most definetely possible.

I'm just worried about the odd one or two people who would come in, say something rediculous, and get their heads taken off.

I am numb to all religious activity. Religion(both catholicism and lutheran, yes they are different)has been pounded into my brain for the past 14 years. Everytime i hear something more about God/Jesus, etc. I want to believe even less. I know it sounds like a bad thing, and i may be a bad person for saying it, but if you were in my shoes you'd know how i feel.

A question NONE of my teachers has been able to answer: I was taught that God knows our WHOLE life, he knows everything that we are going to do, all the decisions we are going to make. If that holds true, how can he be angry at us for making wrong decisions? He knew we were going to make it, he planned that out, so how can he be mad at us? Ponder that for a while.

very true, this guy fore warned you that this is a christian site. doesn't mean u have to go to it. doesn't mean he's trying to convert you to christianity. y do u have to take your anger out on someone else that has different opinions. we don't flame on kids with horrible systems if they like it. so go **** urself and keep your flaming to urself. by the way i'm CATHOLIC, flame me i dare
