Since Milenko seems to be looking pretty hard for some sort of validation for Chinny (though I do find myself wondering why in the hell someone would bother) I'll say this:
Chinny, if you are genuinely trying to make right that which you have done wrong then good. It is a step in the right direction.
It must be stated, however, that the truly right thing would have been to make certain that your buyer (KingDiamond in this instance) knew about the pre-existing issues that you yourself had experienced with the components during their tenure as part of your personal setup. Don't assume that a buyer will search through older threads to see if there's a mention of them somewhere else. They shouldn't have to.
With all the chaos and confusion surrounding you and your reputation as a seller on CA.com your inability to make a solid decision about the condition of the sub (is it a defect? is it a scratch? is it a blemish? is it a crack?) makes it exceedingly difficult if not downright impossible for anyone to be able to trust what you're saying. After the fiasco with the components you need to try extra hard to redeem yourself in the eyes of the forum at large. Seem unfair to you? Tough shit. That's the way the cookie crumbles when you're publicly seen doing something that's viewed in general as shady.
Like I said - do the right thing the First Time Every Time. If the issue with the XXX is purely cosmetic and doesn't affect the mechanical performance or reliability of the sub then fine! Be aware that a mechanically perfect item is not necessarily a mint item. I'll not take sides on the issue of removed from the packaging or not having sway over mint status or not so I'll just state that to me a "mint" item is one that to the eye cannot be told from BNIB (regardless of presence or lack thereof of the box) and is mechanically 100%. If it is scratched it isn't mint.
Think about what you say and how you plan to say it BEFORE you actually say it and I reckon you'll be heaps better off than you seem to be currently.
I don't care where your money comes from but keep your sob stories about your buddy's having to save up $2K for some tires to yourself. When he's got real worries such as mortgage payments, home owner's insurance, and health coverage for his children maybe then I'll care.
