Chinese cell phones

i am considering getting a phone from china since they are so advanced and better priced, but wondered if a phone purchased there can be used here? particularly with verizon cell phone service... if so what do i have to do for the phone to work over here?

tons of phones are made in china that are made for all sorts op companies and providers whether they are GSM or CDMA. You do understand that verizon is a CDMA network correct???

Different phones are hardwired to accept different signals of sorts...

If you're on a CDMA network, as funkyab said, you can find a CDMA phone and unlock it. This can be done by either putting in a code, or doing some other funky stuff to it that will definitely void it's warranty...

make sure its running at the american frequencies...

which cuts ur choices 9/10's of phones...

will most likly work in europe tho..

yes i understand that, most phones that i saw were already unlocked and used freq. of 850-1900. so is that all i have to find? any unlocked cdma phone?

if its unlocked it will work on the ATT network.

no phone other then a verizon specific phone will work on the network. trust me. it sucks.

If you're on verizon or alltel, you will have to use their branded phone simply because they won't activate it if its not their brand. Unless you can activate it yourself.
