Chinese amplifier feedback

I'm building a home audio setup and I saw a few Chinese amps that I was hoping someone could weigh in on what to expect. Or any reviews if anyone else has ever tried them.

1000w x 4 @8
1600w x 4 @4

Obviously I don't actually expect these RMS wattages. But even if they rate things like boss, hell 250rms x 4 is still a steal at $275 shipped.

I'd expect it to be pretty dirty and to just randomly smoke itself for no reason eventually but look at those windings and those caps, it looks like it puts out some pretty serious power even if they are exaggerating the output.

Looks like a really fun way to play around with a dirt cheap powerhouse.
Thoughts?

It seems you're looking for opinions on a specific audio amplifier. While I can't provide direct reviews or insights on specific products, I can offer general advice on evaluating amplifiers. If anyone else has experience with that model or similar ones, feel free to share!

Might be worth the risk, Without a lot of reviews it is tough to say.. It does look beefy though.

What kind of speakers are you gonna be driving?
Honestly I'm not sure yet. But I have 4 speaker cabinets and they each contain 2 15in drivers.
I'm trying to get a little crazy 😆

It looks like it would be a really fun amp to play around with

Have you checked CL or market place? I see lots of used Crown and QSC amps fairly local for fair enough prices.

I picked up a Denon AVR-5803 and use it as a Power amp to power some DIY 3 way towers with a Dayton DSP..
It does something like 170x7 @ 6 ohm and is 4 ohm stable.. These amps were 4500 new back in the day and got a mint in the box one for 100$

Some good deals to be found out there.

But I agree the china amp would be cool to check out.. Have you searched youtube for any reviews?

That's a PA amp. Sound quality might not be a strong point. Did you also check on the import tax? That might add a bit more, if you have to pay it. The limit used to be $500. I don't know what it is now.

As for quality and power, I would guess the quality would be decent, and the RMS power rating, I would guess it would be closer to the 100x4 mark. I purchased a power PA sub that states it's 1200 watts, but it's more like 200 watts. If you are able to find out the amp draw, you would be able to find out the real power.

Interesting, what are you basing your guess off of?
If I just looked at the price, I'd likely agree that it only puts it 100w.
But when I look at the guts and not price, id think it'll do allot more.

With a class D amp I feel like it's pretty easy to guess the output power. More winding + more caps = more power.

But with a/b amps or my emotiva amp there's only a couple tiny caps but they still manage to put out a significant amount of power.

I'm probably derailing my original question but is there a quick and dirty way to estimate what to expect from a home amp? With smaller car amps you can just look at what it's onboard fuses are. Is there something similar I can do in home audio?

I think I might get one to try it and if I do, I'll clamp it and report back. But id like to have an expectation before purchase.

Yeah I'll check out my local marketplace. But I feel bad being mean to name brand equipment, this amp on the other hand, well it could be fun to bridge @2 ohm and see how hot she'll get lol.

To revise my earlier answer. I have an 18in nightshade that I don't plan on using for my theater, but only cause getting 4000w from the wall sounds like a nightmare. If this (or similar amps) could actually push enough power to move it... Sounds like a good time. It wouldn't need to be the cleanest power as it would obviously be dedicated to bass.

I'm basing my guess from other Chinese equipment I have purchased from Alibaba and Amazon. My pockets don't run deep, so I have to take a gamble on cheaper equipment. It's rare they put out their listed power. However, I did get the time to go in and do a little more research. IT might be close to 1000w, or higher. It's a pretty stout amp. It even uses Toshiba Transistors. Also, they state it weighs 27 KG. That's about 60 lbs, which is twice as heave as a Crown.

I noticed there is a fuse on the back of the amp. once you get it, pull the fuse and see what size it is. Sometimes, these manufacturers will send you an owner's manual upon request. See if they can email one to you. The amp draw and/or fuse size might be listed.

The Ali sites make me nervous with anything more than a few bucks for an item. You MAY be getting an identical piece that would cost a lot more here, or it may be made with components that didn't quite pass muster for production to export. And returning anything to China is a b**ch, if there is a problem.

Risking my own money, I'd also be that guy that looks into used quality stuff. There are some amazing deals to be had out there, if you are willing to commit to the search, and wait for a payoff.

Yeah, like Rob said... that Ali site makes me a bit nervous. Plenty of good options stateside and used gear doesn't mean useless gear. I literally have a RF Prime 1200.1 mono amp that I bough second hand and I have beat the tar out of that to this day performs flawlessly.
