Cheapest route to 20,000RMS?

If you want the cheapest route to deafness just take an icepick and punch out your eardrums.
hahahahahahahah

ya, the .35 for the amps would be good for metering and such, but this will be my daily driver. the warranty extends down to .5ohm for daily use and i know that they will have no problems at all doing .7ohm daily. then after imp rise, box rise and all that it will most likely not even get the least bit warn.

thanks again to sundownz for getting me a nice deal on these amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Dual 2's are really 1.4 coils correct? If so, then each amp would be seeing half of that .7 load which would be .35, correct? I know that the reactive load varies from the nominal, but you never can be sure of how much they will change. .35 voids the warranty and I dont think he is wanting to have to pay to replace them
Dual 2 coils on a DMM DCR ~1.8ohms. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If he getting BTL's?

On my fully loaded BTL15 dual1ohm, my Kicker ZX2500.1 was louder than a pair of SAZ1500d's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I'll be doing more tests soon. Including w/ my TL.

If you strap @1ohm... you'll get more power... and they take it fine. It's still .5ohms nominal... which is what the warranty covers.

Loyd is doing a battery of testing soon. I believe he is testing a 0.35 ohm DCR load (aka: 0.5 ohms nominal). The most testing has been done with a higher DCR "0.5 nominal" load on SI Mags and BMs... both setups are over 0.4 ohms DCR. So, hopefully Loyd can shed some light on stability at lower DCR loads. I am fairly sure that it will be fine with such a load but I will refrain from saying it WILL handle it until I have some solid testing done by a reputable guy such as Loyd.

I'm fairly sure they will be okay with this load and I will replace or repair damage. BUT, if you read the details of the warranty... it's just a warranty against damage, not a guarantee that your load will not cause protection to kick in. The protection is very good and will save the amp 99% of the time.

My Fi dual 1ohm coils in parallel were .4ohms DCR on my Fluke DMM.

Indeed. Sounds about right with wires and terminals in the loop. Did you have any issues with hitting protection at all?

I know in Hoss' truck it took several hours of play at full blast and a drop below 11 volts to hit protection on his 1500Ds @ 0.5 ohms nominal.

so what should i get? the dual 1 ohm subs? or wire them a different way with the dual 2?

i was under the impression it would be best to get the dual 1 and strap them at 1.4 so each would be seeing .7ohms

They won't actually be seeing .7ohms each, that's what I'm telling you.

Get dual2's... strap @1ohm.
