Cheapest knu power wire good or crap?

ok so what if say i have a 15ft of the klmx wire i believe its that the cheapest stuff only 1.75 a foot and i have it wired from front batter to back battery with that wire and using a 300amp fuse whats the worst can happen and how big of a deal is it

and to the subject of the 250A vs 300A fuse- if you are using less then 20' then a 300A fuse could be used. On a 250A load at 20' there is an average of a 10% loss due to resistance (standard acceptable loss in cable at max load) Its not so much a "fire" hazard, but a low voltage issue could harm your equipment if you draw 300A for extended time. We advise a 250A fuse to be safe.

your 15' is a good examle - you have effectively reduced the cable's resistance by 25% (25% less material means 25% less resistance) so 300A would now be within standard allowable voltage loss

Fire.

Cables are rated usualy to 600V. 2/0 is not rated for 600A. It is not double the size of 1/0 regardless of manufacture.

The Kolossus uses 5145 strands in the 1/0 gauge. The KLMX uses less strands, but the strands are larger diameter (34 gauge in KLMX vs 36 gauge Kolossus and most other brands)

Kicker was not used in the test.

how come kicker wire wasnt tested? isnt that pretty much the main competitor to the kollosus fleks? they look identical:crazy:

but it is all cooper not clad alum. dont get me wrong i have had 1/0 knu wire and was happy but i have 2/0 welding cable all cooper now what do i fuse it at its rated at 600volts sorry

The test report is not about brands - its about material comparison. Look at the DC Resistance of each cable and the DC voltage. The three copper cables are close, the KLMX is right there with them and the other CCA cables are way off the pace. The point of the test was that using a different material does not make a cable bad, the geometry of the cable is what makes a cable good or bad.

Fast85 - The max rating of the 2/0 is probably in the 370-400A range.
